Located in New South Wales, Australia, the Bondi Penthouse designed by MPR Design Group is the result of adding a contemporary new structure on top of an existing “Art Deco” building. This new addition places a lightweight, metal-clad structure on the roof of an existing Art Deco building. The pristine white metallic volume is clearly delineated from the old building. Generous, open-plan living spaces flow onto expansive external entertaining areas. The line between the interior and exterior areas is blurred due to the white metallic cladding with its intricate random patterning flowing into the interior wall and ceiling. An external horizontal blade forms a daybed and creates a continuous floating joinery element.
